Welcome

Who are we?
Winterbourne Cycling Academy is a not-for-profit organisation that actively promotes cycling for leisure, health, as a means of transport and as a fun activity for families.

We actively promote cycling as a family-oriented activity, helping families to cycle safely with their children, especially on the school run.

What do we do?
We organise cycling lessons following the National Standards in Cycling. The courses run as follows:

3pm - 4pm:     Beginners
4pm - 5pm:     Intermediate
5pm - 6pm:     Advanced

The sessions are designed to be flexible and do not require trainees to commit to particular Saturdays.

After following one of our courses, you will be more confident about making cycling trips.

We also provide Dr Bike sessions, where we can carry out minor repairs.

Who can come on the rides?

Anyone can join in on the rides, and no special preparation is needed, although we do recommend that before joining a ride, you have your bike looked at by our bicycle mechanic at one of our regular Dr Bike sessions, who will carry out a health check of your bicycle to ensure that it is roadworthy. At the Dr Bike session, you can also have any minor repairs carried out for free.

How much does it cost?
The good news is that all our services are free.

Where do we hold courses?
Our courses are held at Winterbourne Junior Boys School, Winterbourne Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 7QT. Please click here for a map.
